hi all well..... here is my first commission that i completed for a friend of my that isn't on DA (yet) ..... said he wanted a bat-girl for his wallpaper so here it is.
found this on while looking for a cool bat-girl piece to color.... after colored it i asked what he thought and he said give me now sooo ha i didn't have to do a back-ground. really hope you guys like it .....tell me what you think pencils: David Finch inks: Jon Glapion colors by cs4 wacom bamboo fun aprox. 5 maybe 6 hours Comments
hey man thank you for the comment.... i 100% agree with you and was planning something like either a dust trail or possibly some cloud or such but the guy i did it for liked it where it was soo there it is....
really liked your work and it was your piece that i used for reference..... thx for the comment rich -- check out the rest of my gallery: ([link]) you dont really need to put "something" in the background, no clouds or whatever, just a little splash of some complimentary color would work good too.
-- if you asked me a question read this instead [link] or....link to full FAQ at the bottom. if you're a dreamer night is the only time of day. really i always feel like you should put something in the background but then again sometimes i have no desire to do anything with the background too....
so you never said what you thought of this one... -- check out the rest of my gallery: ([link]) |

In Photoshop try adjusting the levels to 0 1.85 255. The hair and the gold parts of the uniform won't look as saturated, but you really don't want to go overboard with saturated colors here-it just overemphasizes what is too dark. You can then use the art history brush to gradually darken her lower half and the further parts of the cape. You'll add a bit of dimension by doing this.
If you want to add even more oompf, add some sort of backlighting to her, even something subtle can add an extra dimension. A mid to light blue is always a good default, or any kind of cool colour, but even warm colors can work here as well--just enough to add that something extra.
The eyes--you've got enough room, add a white catchlight to her irises. Again, it'll add a bit of extra life to her face, AND works best when white or nearly white.
Also, I take it you're the one that made the background black? You've got a bit of haloing around the lineart where the lineart has aliased. Either remove that haloing--it is a bit distracting--or make it pronounced by using a stroke. Also, I'd show the signatures--they're still there, they're just barley there--make them white or a color from the image and let them be seen! The missing names makes the artwork appear more generic to me.
Try these tips and see what kind of difference it makes.
